2021 Budget – The new assessment roll and a decrease in property tax
To ensure that citizens do not suffer the potential impact of the 2021-2023 assessment roll, the municipal council of Rawdon is proud to present a balanced budget which includes a drop in the property tax rate for all citizens.
For Mayor Bruno Guilbault, there were no other options possible in the current context. ‘’We had no choice but to deal with the new assessment roll that takes effect in January. However, with this pandemic, there was no question of increasing homeowners’ stress levels, when the values of their properties increase.»
By doing so, Mr. Guilbault proudly added, around 65% of built residential properties will see a decrease in their tax bill or a slight increase of $25 or less.
The municipal council is all the more proud of the fiscal year since the tax bill has been reduced for many property owners, despite an increase in the cost of residual waste management, that will allow residents to dispose of a maximum of 3 cubic yards of construction material, per residential unit, per year, at the Ecocentre (excluding vacant lots).
