The role of the citizen

PARKING BAN AND TOWING OF VEHICLES

REMINDER: during the winter season (November 1st to April 15th, from 11 pm to 7 am), it is prohibited to park in the street. Therefore, citizen’s cooperation is very important.

To avoid the slowing down of operations, vehicles that are parked illegally and hinder snow clearing are towed away.

If your vehicle has been towed due to snow removal operations, outside of regular office hours, please call 450 834-2596, ext. 8 to find out where it is and the fees payable to retrieve it.

Citizens can help improve the quality of the services during a snowfall.

The clearing of streets and sidewalks on waste collection days can be a little more challenging for the teams assigned to do this work.

Things you can do:

  • In the morning, place your bins at the edge of your property, near the street, even if precipitation is forecast;
  • The bins must be placed inside your property line, in your driveway or behind the sidewalk;
  • Remove the bins as soon as possible after collection.

Snow plow drivers pay particular attention to mailboxes that are installed in the utility right-of-way*.

In accordance with municipal regulations, it is prohibited to deposit snow from your property onto a pubic road  The snow must be kept on your property.

The purpose of this regulation is to promote the smooth flow of pedestrian and motorist traffic, ensure their safety, simplify parking in the street, facilitate all snow removal operations and prevent the breakdown of municipal equipment.

Citizens are responsible for installing markers to delineate their property. We recommend the use of markers that are high enough to be seen throughout the winter season. In addition, they should be placed 3 m (10 ft.) inside the property line. We also recommend that there be no landscaping and/or decorative items located within 3 m (10 ft.) of the property line.

The parking of any vehicle is prohibited on all public roads and municipally owned parking lots or those whose maintenance, according to agreement, is under municipal responsibility, between 11 pm and 7 am, from November 1st to April 15th, and is subject to a fine.

Temporary car shelters are authorized from October 15th to May 15th. To facilitate snow removal operations, please make sur to install your shelter at least 3 m (10 ft.) inside your property line.

The Municipality cannot be held responsible for any damage caused to a shelter that is installed at less than 3 m (10 ft.) from the utility right-of-way*.

When permitted, a waste bin shelter must be located at least 3 m (10 ft.) inside the property line.

*Utility right-of-way
The utility right-of-way includes, among other things: traffic lanes, shoulders and ditches.

We thank you for your usual cooperation. Working together, we can ensure the safety of our streets, roads and sidewalks.

Respect for the employees of the snow removal team is also a great way to contribute to their good work.
