Access to information
Access to information request
The Access to Information Act, pertaining to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information, establishes the principle that anyone who requests it has the right of access to municipal documents.
However, the Act also stipulates that certain documents may or may not be released.
The request can be made in writing (letter, email, fax) or verbally, but only the written request allows you to appeal to the Access to Information Commission, if you are not satisfied with the access to information authority’s decision.
