Alice-Quintal Library

The Alice-Quintal Library is a world of discoveries for children, teens, adults and seniors.

Every family member will find something of interest in our collection of more than 50,000 documents, in French and in English.

You will find a large collection of books, audio and large print books, new mangas, magazines, newspapers, in French and English… Come see us to discover all of these hidden gems!

Late Fees

Late Fees

As part of the international ‘’Fine Free Library’’ movement, that aims to democratize access to library services and resources, late fees have been abolished!

You must return your books before you can borrow any new ones.

  • A courtesy notice will be sent 2 days prior to the due date.
  • Two other notices will follow 7 days and 14 days after the due date. 
  • 21 days after the due date, the book will be declared lost and an invoice will be sent to the member, to cover the cost of its replacement. The price will include the cost of the document in question, calculated at its market value or, if it is no longer available, at the price of a similar document, plus administrative fees as set by the Municipality of Rawdon’s pricing regulation.
  • Exceptions: the games from the toy  library and inter-library loans (PEB) : a fine of .50/document/per day

Policies and Procedures

Membership to the Alice-Quintal Library is free of charge to Rawdon’s residents and tax payers (proof of identity and residency are required).

  • Non-resident membership: $40 per year;

  • Children under the age of 14 : the membership card must be signed by a parent or guardian.  Must provide child’s medicare card and parent/guardian’s proof of residency;

  • Replacement of lost or damaged membership card: $5.00.

By registering, the member agrees to respect library rules.

Renewals and Responsibilities

  • Loans can be renewed twice at the library, by bringing the documents, by Internet with your PIN via the online catalog or by telephone.

  • Documents that are reserved or overdue cannot be renewed.

  • The member is responsible for all borrowed documents.  No home repairs are allowed. The books are repaired by trained people with specialized equipment.

  • Any lost or damaged document must be reimbursed, including adminstration fees and applicable taxes.

  • Black and white photocopying service

  • Mobile library for members 65 yrs and over, living in the seniors’ residences

  • Collection of pop can tabs, plastic ties (bread bags, milk bags), cell phones and laser and inkjet printer cartridges to fund MIRA dog training.
