The following are the steps for snow removal:

The personnel of the Department of Public Works closely monitor weather forecasts to plan the operations in response to the predicted precipitation.

PLOWING AND SALTING/SANDING

Snow plowing is continuous during a period of precipitation.

Plowing on all 10 municipal runs begins simultaneously. Priority is given to main arteries, then collector roads followed by residential streets. Collector roads are roads used to link residential streets to main arteries or municipality to municipality.

During snow removal, there is spreading of sand only. Salt is used on main arteries and collector roads.

When a snowfall totals over 30 cm (12 in), parking in the street becomes more difficult.  In these circumstances, citizens are asked to park their vehicle in their garage or private driveway.

The hauling of snow begins when snow plowing ends. The snow is brought to the snow disposal site.

Private contractors hired by the Municipality are responsible for clearing the snow around fire hydrants, to ensure that they are accessible at all times.
