The MTQ confirms the postponement of work on the Route 337 bridge in Rawdon

August 12th, 2020 | The Municipality of Rawdon wishes to advise the population  that the Ministère des Transports has just issued a notice of postponement of the long-awaited repair work on the Route 337 bridge, which crosses over the Rouge River.

This notice to residents was received by the Municipality on August 11th .  In it, the MTQ specified that the project, which was to begin this summer, had to be postponed due to administrative and environmental restriction delays.  It also announced a new timetable: « The Ministry is therefore obliged to proceed with a second tendering process in the coming months.  Consequently, the bridge repair work is postponed to 2021. »

The expected work consists of replacing the bridge deck as well as repairs to the structure’s foundation elements. These interventions will make it possible to lift load restrictions and re-establish two-way traffic.

Since 2017, there is only one lane open and vehicles cross alternately by means of a traffic light.  When the construction site trailers were installed in early summer, residents and the municipal administration were delighted to see the process finally begin.  However, we will have continue with the alternating traffic procedure for a few more months.

The bridge is also subject to load restrictions: 24 tons for a straight-body truck, 38 tons for a tractor-trailer and 50 tons for a road train.

We would like to remind you that the Ministère des Transports (MTQ) is responsible for maintenance of all provincial roads.  For inquiries concerning these roads, please call 511.
